On January 20th 2020, Sogang University Visits NTNU. Sogang University is a private research university in Seoul, South Korea. It was established in 1960 by the Wisconsin Province of the Society of Jesus. Sogang is the oldest Catholic and Jesuit institution of higher education in South Korea. The Korean Language School at Seogang University is also well known in Korea for its oral training.

This time, Prof. Yo-An LEE, professor of the English Department, visited NTNU. Our vice President for International Affairs, Prof. Hsiang-Lin LIU, gave him a warm welcome, followed by a discussion on MOU, student and faculty exchange agreements, or visiting professor program in Korean language at the College of Liberal Arts.

Prof. Lee said that in addition to discussing cooperation projects, he was also invited by Prof. Yuh-show CHENG of the Department of English and Prof. Yung-Wei HAO of the Graduate Institute of Curriculum and Instruction to visit National Taiwan Normal University during the winter break. It's all started from his wife-- Prof. Sung-Yeon KIM (Professor of English at Hanyang University in the South Korea). Prof. KIM and two professors at our English Department (Prof. Hsi-Nan YEH and Prof. Yuh-Show CHENG) were classmates in the doctoral program at the University of Texas at Austin.

After the meeting, we also arranged a dinner with Prof. Chun-Yin CHEN, the Director of English Department, to discuss the possibility of future cooperation and exchange between the two schools in teaching. Prof. Lee also mentioned that Ms. Minnie LEE (Exchanges and Collaborations / Asia (except Japan) and Africa), who is in charge of the University's International Affairs Office in Asia, will reach NTNU to discuss contract-related matters. The meeting not only brought the two sides closer, but also looked forward to more cooperation opportunities in the future.
