    ※If the applicant is of foreign nationality as specified in Article 2 under the MOE Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan and possesses (or has possessed) nationality status from the Republic of China (R.O.C.), additional proof is required, such as entry and departure records for the past 6 years, a declaration form stating that they do not hold a R.O.C. household registration, Certificate of Nationality Renouncement of Republic of China or other proof of documents.

    (1)An official financial statement issued within the past three months from a financial institution.

    (3)The proof showing the applicant have been awarded full scholarship.

  • ※Eligible applicants who graduate at the same year as the admission to National Taiwan Normal University must submit transcripts for each academic semester and the ‘Deposition of Admission Documents for National Taiwan Normal University International Applicants’, and are not required to submit the diploma during application. The diploma and transcripts for each academic semester must be submitted upon registration (Diplomas or degree certificates from China are required to have the documents notarized by relevant authorities.); otherwise, the applicants admitted to NTNU will have their admission revoked.

    ※Applicants applying with diplomas or degree certificates from China are required to have the documents notarized by relevant authorities. If authentication cannot be completed by the application deadline, please submit degree certificate, complete transcript and a signed Deposition of Admission Documents.

    ※Admitted students must submit the original ones for review to the Office of International Affairs on the day of enrollment.

    ※NTNU holds the right to request applicants to have their degree certificate or diploma authenticated by the ROC diplomatic missions should NTNU find any problem in the applicants’ documents.

IntroductionThe Department of Industrial Education was originally founded under the banner of the then Taiwan Provincial Normal College (now the National Taiwan Normal University) in 1953, and aided by the United States Agency for International Development. This Department is the first official educational institute established to cultivate teachers for vocational schools and handicraft industry in Taiwan. The master’s program started in August 1976. Later in August 1992, the doctoral program was also offered. This was the first doctoral program in the industrial education system in Taiwan. This establishment is an important milestone not only for this Department, but also for the development of technical education in Taiwan.
To nurture technical-education teachers and promote academic and professional development, several majors, specialized areas were expanded and upgraded. The former Engineering Technology major had become an independent Industrial Arts Education Department in 1982; the former Graphic Communications & Printing Technology Branch was upgraded to Graphic Communications & Printing Technology Department in 1996; Four specialized fields, machinery, casting, drawing, and sheet metal technology under the Mechanical Branch were merged and then split out to form a Mechatronic Technology Research Institute in 2002, later it was expanded into the Mechatronic Technology Department in 2004. Likewise, the Electrical and Mechanical Technology major was expanded into the Applied Electronics Technology Research Institute in 2004. Then the institute became Department of Applied Electronics Technology in 2007.
The undergraduate program specializes in cultivating technical staff and future teachers in the criteria of Power Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering and Electronic Engineering Group. The master’s program aims to cultivate professional personnel area of Energy Applications, Mechanical Applications, Technical Vocational Education, and Technology Management. The doctoral program the fields of Administrative Management for Technical Vocational Education and Course Teaching. The In-Service Master’s program aims to provide further education and cultivate professional personnel in the area of Administrative Management for Technical Vocational Education and Technology Management.
At present, there are one class in each grade of the undergraduate program, one class per each area in the master's program, one class in the doctoral program, and two classes in the in-service master’s program. The total number of students in the department is about 600.
Features of Curriculum1.The curriculum specializes in cultivating technical staff and future teachers in the field of technical vocational education, mechanical applications, and technology management.
2.The curriculum aims to support students to develop their skills of comprehensive analysis and independent thinking and nurtures students’ problem-solving abilities. Furthermore, to fosters their creative and innovative skills in the above-mentioned professional areas.
3.The curriculum provides an opportunity to train students’ positive personality traits and positive attitude towards self-actualization in the aforementioned fields.
4.The curriculum focuses on the education of students’ work ethics and good attitudes at work.
Career ProspectsFollowing the Teacher Education System in Taiwan, the curriculum planning of the Department of Industrial Education aims to focus on work application, which includes knowledge and professional experiences. The educational purpose is not only to nurture technical staff and future teachers for technical vocational education in Taiwan but also to combines our existing teaching staff and teaching facilities to promote the diversity of different specialized fields, for instance, technical vocational, mechanical applications and technology management.
