The teacher preparation program aims to develop mathematics teachers with exceptional mathematics competence, mathematics teaching competence, and positive dispositions toward mathematics teaching. In addition to the mathematics courses provided by numerous outstanding scholars in various areas, we provide the most comprehensive and well-organized mathematics education courses in Taiwan, which cultivate preservice teachers from both theoretical and practical facets to achieve to high quality and attributes required in the 21st century. The program is also driven by the international trends to extend itself for including the international baccalaureate (IB) teacher education.
|Features of Curriculum||As the first Department of Mathematics in Taiwan, we offer a variety of course for students who love maths and want to delve into the subject further. As a student at NTNU, you'll have the opportunity to learn more about the wider application of maths and how this can open you up to a broad range of career paths. During the first two years you will study the main aspects of mathematics and develop your knowledge in areas such as algebra, analysis, calculus and differential equations. In the second year you will also take a skills module, which is designed to improve your transferable skills and enhance your employability.|
In the final year, you can develop your knowledge by exploring areas of interest in greater depth. The vast majority of courses in this year are optional and include subjects from subjects from both pure and applied mathematics, and statistics, such as number theory, cryptography, geometry, numerical analysis and mathematical education. During this year you will also carry out a project on a mathematical or statistical topic and produce a report and presentation on it.
